@jsdewes deserves to be here for this 😅

So Prime Day came around and this book was a couple dollars off. I’d never heard of it, but I read the first ten or so pages on amazon and I was hooked. I bought it and read it in two days. The first day was pretty good. I got to 150 pages and I was enjoying it. The second day…I read 75 pages before work and then was haunted by it all day. I continued reading as soon as I got home and finished it up.

Umm. Wow.

First off, I gave this five stars. It has been a while since I’ve been so utterly captivated by a sci-fi novel. Since I’m currently writing a sci-fi novel, I wanted some books to use as a reference point for what I am trying to write. This…is that. This is the vibes I want. This is the writing and story structure and rapid plot that I want.

I want these characters.

This book escalated quite quickly. It went from being good to being absolutely amazing. The plot itself is so new and fresh. I just can’t believe I’ve never heard of this.

I have ordered a replacement copy for this one (it has some issues. Some things are close to being cut off) and I also got the sequel. I want to finish this up so that I can anxiously wait her next novel, Rubicon, which comes out next year. As of right now, she’s an auto buy author.
